- Historic sites and battlefields -
Dela på Facebook Dela på Twitter

Estcourt is a fairly large town that, together with Winterton 40 km farther north, is considered as the gateway to the central region of the Drakensberg. Estcourt is popular perhaps mainly because the area is full of historic sites and battlefields from the Anglo-Boer War.

The city is also known for the close proximity to Weenen Game Reserve and Tugela Biosphere, a 100 000 hectare area inhabited by elephant, white rhino, wildebeest, leopard, warthog, hyena and a few antelope species.

In and around Estcourt there are of course some hiking trails. New Formosa Nature Reserve is ideal for watching wildlife, and Moor Park Nature Reserve offers interesting trails that are excellent for bird watching.
