Elgin

- Beautiful apple orchards -
East of Somerset West, Elgin is enclosed by the Hottentots Holland Mountains in a region that traditionally grow apples. Elgin Valley is exquisitely beautiful, with long stretches of woodland and endless mountain ranges surrounding the orchards.

The wines produced here are mostly fruity and Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Shiraz thrive particularly well. Here is also a very special winery, Thandi Wines, which in 2003 became the first wine brand in the world to receive Fairtrade accreditation.
