East of Swartland lies Tulbagh in a valley surrounded by mountains on three sides – in the west Obiqua Mountains, in the north Winterhoek Mountains and in the east Witzenberg Mountain. Cool southeast winds blow along the south side of this beautiful valley in summer, creating perfect conditions for viticulture.

This secluded valley is one of the most beautiful in the Cape and its true potential has recently been discovered, largely because of the many national and international prizes awarded the wines of the area. Some of South Africa's most famous vineyards are found here, such as Drostdy-Hof, Theuniskraal and Twee Jonge Gezellen.

When you visit Tulbagh do yourselves a favour and take a detour to Ceres, which is tucked away in a valley that is only available through mountain passes which will make you breathless. On the mountain plateau there are the farms that produce fruits, including peaches, nectarines, apples, apricots, pears and cherries, which then becomes for example juice. You are welcome to visit these orchards and see how the production works.
