...is located in southern Africa and bordered by Angola to the west, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Tanzania to the north, Malawi to the east and Mozambique, Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe in the south. Zambia is a diamond in the rough and if you want to experience the real Africa, Zambia is the destination for you.
Introduction
Zambia boasts some of Africa's best nature reserves and together with Zimbabwe, shares some of the region's biggest attractions - the Victoria Falls in southwestern Zambia, Lake Kariba and the Lower Zambezi National Park in south-eastern Zambia.

Zambia is probably the dream destination of all anglers and they come from all around the world to go fishing in the mighty Zambezi River. Zambia is also high up on many birdwatchers' list of destinations because of the amazing diversity of birds that the country presents.

For travellers who are self driving, Zambia can be a challenge because of the long distances between the major cities and attractions, which can consume a lot of your valuable time. But for many, it is this challenge that beckons. The roads are often in a poor condition and in many places there are no road signs. A 4x4 is recommended if you are going to venture beyond the main roads.

Weather
Zambia has more or less three seasons - the dry season from mid-April to August, when temperatures drop at night, but the landscape is green and lush; the hot season lasts from September to mid-November, which is the best time to go on safari because vegetation is sparse, which is good for game viewing; and the wet season from mid-November to mid-April, which is ideal for bird watching.

During the summer months, the temperatures vary from 25°C to 35°C, and during winter from 6°C to 24°C.

Additional Information
You might need a visa to travel to Zambia on holiday, please check with the Zambian Consulate or Embassy in your country.

Some parts of Zambia are high risk areas for malaria. Therefore malaria prophylaxis should definitely be purchased before departure.

It is safe to drink the tap water in the big cities, but in more remote locations you should either boil the water first or stick to bottled water.

Most hotels, restaurants and larger shops accept Visa Cards.
